About cylib
Founded in Aachen in 2022 by Dr. Lilian Schwich, Paul Sabarny and Dr. Gideon Schwich, cylib is a holistic battery recycling company rooted in research conducted at RWTH Aachen University. The company develops advanced recycling technologies to recover critical materials and build sustainable, resilient European value chains. Its integrated network includes research and development in Aachen, a mechanical processing facility already in operation in Bavaria, Germany, and a hydrometallurgical facility currently under construction in Dormagen, Germany.
The water-based OLiC technology (Optimized Lithium and Graphite Recovery) efficiently recovers raw materials from battery packs, black mass or production scrap. It achieves recovery rates of more than 90% for lithium, graphite, nickel, cobalt and manganese, with an 80% lower carbon footprint compared with primary extraction, thereby enabling true material circularity.
